What this tool is and who it’s for

The Medical AI Assistant (“Aura‑Chart”) is a browser extension and secure cloud backend that helps clinicians create high‑quality clinical documentation from real-world conversations and recordings. It’s designed for pediatricians, family physicians, lactation consultants, and clinic teams who need fast, accurate SOAP notes, billing support, and pediatric medication guidance within existing workflows.

Key capabilities at a glance (transcription, clinical notes, billing, pediatric meds/RAG)

• Transcription: Capture or upload audio and get a clean, punctuated transcript, with support for long recordings.
• Clinical notes: Generate structured notes in pediatric, lactation, or family‑medicine formats with adjustable detail levels and customizable templates.
• Billing (Ontario OHIP): Suggests up to three OHIP billing codes plus 2–3 diagnostic codes, with concise justifications aligned to your note content.
• Pediatric medications (RAG): Suggests evidence‑informed options and brand names using vector search over curated medication data combined with LLM reasoning; provides a dosing calculator using weight/age safeguards.

Data handling and privacy basics

• PHI minimization: Only the minimum necessary data is sent to the backend for each task. Note generation and medication flows avoid unnecessary identifiers.
• Client‑side PHI encryption: Sensitive fields saved in the browser are protected using AES‑256, derived from your session token.
• Secure storage and deletion: Audio is uploaded to Google Cloud Storage with short‑lived signed URLs and optional Customer‑Managed Encryption Keys (CMEK); lifecycle rules auto‑delete after a defined period.
